Heather Henderson is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Studies and Psychology from the University of New Hampshire. Heather then completed a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Connecticut.
Heather has worked in the mental health field for 20 years. She has worked as a Clinical Social Worker in various positions including private practice, residential treatment and crisis stabilization. She has held positions at Harvard University and Big Brothers Big Sisters, as well as several community based agencies. Heather has worked with families in CT, NY, Cork Ireland, Boston and the South Shore.
Heather has experience working with families facing many different issues related to child development, behavior issues, mental health and trauma. She enjoys working with families to aid in the development of healthy coping skills and transitioning through challenges that many families face. To meet each client's individual needs, Heather uses a variety of counseling modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), play therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), expressive art therapy, family systems therapy, strengths based therapy, crisis intervention and mindfulness skills training.
Heather enjoys the beach, hiking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She is pleased to be part of the team at Child and Adolescent Health Specialists!
